Huron Hurricanes Aquatic Club

Safe Sport

At Huron Hurricanes Aquatic Club (HHAC), we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, respectful, and positive environment for all swimmers, coaches, officials, volunteers, and families.

Every member of our club deserves to participate in swimming free from abuse, harassment, bullying, discrimination, and inappropriate conduct. We follow applicable Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada policies and procedures and expect all members to contribute to a culture of respect, fairness, and sportsmanship.

Codes of Conduct

All HHAC members, parents and guardians, coaches, officials, and volunteers are expected to act respectfully and follow the applicable Codes of Conduct.

Please review the following resources:

Complaints, Discipline and Appeals

Concerns involving bullying, harassment, abuse, discrimination, maltreatment, or violations of applicable Codes of Conduct should be addressed through the appropriate reporting process.

Formal complaints must be directed through the applicable Swim Ontario and Abuse-Free Sport reporting procedures, where required. HHAC will follow the applicable governing-body procedures and will not substitute an internal club process where an independent reporting process is required.

To report a concern or make a complaint:

For general operational questions, such as scheduling or fees, contact the HHAC President. For coaching-related questions, contact the appropriate coach, or the Head Coach, as appropriate.

If you are unsure where to direct a concern, consult Swim Ontario’s Sport Safety resources for guidance.

Injuries and Concussions

HHAC is committed to swimmer safety and follows applicable Swim Ontario requirements and Ontario concussion legislation, including Rowan’s Law.

Coaches are responsible for responding to injuries, documenting incidents, and completing the appropriate reports. Parents and guardians will be contacted when required.

A swimmer will be required to provide written medical clearance before returning to swimming when HHAC receives medical documentation indicating restrictions or that the swimmer cannot participate.

Our Commitment

HHAC believes that swimming should be a positive experience built on safety, inclusion, teamwork, and respect. We encourage all members to speak up when something does not feel right and to help maintain an environment where everyone can participate with confidence.
